31.5% Lanier Staudacher S600
This page will chronicle the building of Bill's Staudacher.  Bill was looking for a way to get into 30% planes without breaking the bank.  He did a bunch of research on the web and decided on the Lanier kit, which Tower was selling for about $270 as part of an inventory reduction sale.  The kit will be upgraded with Stan's Fibertech cowl and wheel pants, several of lightening/strengthening techniques are being incorporated into the build.
It's 2011 and here this plane sits.. you should email Bill and make him an offer..

Initial Impressions:

*The kit was in fair shape in the box.  One bag of parts was missing, and one sheet of ply was broken.  A call to Lanier rectified both problems quickly at no charge.
*ABS cowl and pants were, well, ABS.  Bought some very nice glass replacements from Stan's.

Building Impressions:

*The kit goes together pretty quickly, when Bill has time to work on it.  About half way done at this point.
*Taking lots of steps to keep it light.  Wings are sheeted foam (epoxy), out towards the tips the foam has been cored out to reduce weight.  Spars are reinforced with carbon fiber strap.  All the round holes in the pics below are cut with Forstner bits and are intended to lighten things up.

Flying Impressions:
